How is my monthly budget for Promoted Listings used?

In this guide

Your budget is the maximum amount you want to spend on ads per month. When you start advertising, we'll provide a personalized budget recommendation, but you have the flexibility to choose what’s right for your business. Your budget affects how often your Promoted Listings are shown to retailers on Faire. We strive to spend up to your budget throughout the month and may spend more on days with better opportunities, and less on days with fewer opportunities. We may not use the full amount, but we'll only spend up to your monthly budget.

What is the minimum budget?

The minimum monthly budget to advertise on Faire is $200/€150/£125 (or the minimum displayed in your local currency in your Promoted Listings tab)

We’ll also provide a recommended budget range to help guide you in determining where to start and help you maximize your reach. We determine these recommendations based on your historical sales on Faire, unless you have limited sales data, in which case it will be based on sales data from brands like yours. By making recommendations or projections, we don’t guarantee any minimum number of impressions, clicks, or sales. Recommendations and projections are for informational purposes only, and you are solely responsible for any decisions made based on this information.

Does my monthly budget automatically renew?

Your budget will renew every month unless you choose to stop advertising. If we don’t spend up to your budget during the month, anything remaining will not roll over into the next month and you will not be charged for the unspent portion.

How often should I adjust my monthly budget?

You can update your budget at any time, but we do recommend advertising for at least a month to evaluate your results before making any changes. Changing your budget will impact how often your Promoted Listings are shown to retailers and will take up to 24 hours to go into effect.

To change your budget, follow the steps below:

  1. Go to Promoted Listings
  2. Select Update budget
  3. Enter a monthly dollar amount and select Update budget

What is utilization?

Utilization shows how much of your monthly Promoted Listings budget has been used, based on how your budget is allocated throughout the month.Your utilization helps explain why we may suggest increasing your budget. It gives you clearer visibility into whether performance is limited by budget pacing — rather than assuming that anything below 100% means there’s room to spend more at your current budget.

We distribute your monthly budget across the days of the month to help optimize impressions and account for higher-traffic periods. Because of this pacing approach, utilization doesn’t always reflect how much of your full monthly budget has been spent.

  • For past months: Utilization is the percentage of your total monthly budget that was spent by the end of the month.
  • For the current month: Utilization is the percentage of the budget that was available to date that has been spent — not the percentage of your full monthly budget.

Your monthly budget is progressively allocated across each day of the month based on advertising opportunities for your brand. As the month progresses, more of your total budget becomes available.

For your current month, this metric can help you understand pacing — whether your spend is keeping up with, or exceeding, the budget allocated so far.

For example: if you’re on day 4 of a 30-day month, only a portion of your total monthly budget has been made available so far. If you’ve already spent that amount, your utilization will show 100%, even though there’s still budget remaining for the rest of the month.

How can I interpret my utilization?

Below is guidance on how to interpret your utilization.

  • If your utilization is consistently above 70%, your budget may be limiting your reach. This means we’re using most or all of the budget currently available based on pacing. In this case, increasing your budget may allow for stronger results. Some brands aim to stay below 70% utilization to leave room for seasonal shifts in demand and avoid hitting pacing limits early.
  • If your utilization is typically below 70%, your advertising opportunities aren't limited by your budget at this time. In this case, increasing your budget alone may not improve performance. Instead, your results may be influenced by conversion factors like listing quality and organic demand. To help improve ad performance and click-through rates, focus on strengthening your product listings. Make sure your pricing is competitive, your photography is clear and appealing, and your product titles and descriptions are accurate and detailed.

How do I adjust my audience?

You’ll have the option to promote your listings to new customers only, or new and returning customers. Advertising to both new and returning is the best way to maximize the reach of your ads. You can update your audience at any time.

To change your audience, follow the steps below:

  1. Go to Promoted Listings
  2. Choose Edit audience
  3. Select your desired audience: new customers only, or new and returning customers.
  4. Select Continue
  5. Update your monthly budget. Choose either a shared budget or separate budgets for new and returning customers
  6. Select Update to save your changes

How do I stop or cancel advertising?

To stop advertising, follow the steps below:

  1. Go to Promoted Listings
  2. Select Stop advertising (Select Cancel advertising if your Promoted Listings are scheduled but haven’t started yet)
  3. A confirmation window will appear for you to select Stop advertising or Cancel advertising

Once you cancel, your Promoted Listings status will change to Inactive.

Please note, we will stop promoting your products on Faire within 24 hours and your final monthly performance may be impacted.
