Why aren’t my products importing from Faire to Square?

If you have had issues syncing specific products from Faire to Square, this may be due to a variant limit that exists in Square that prevents products from Faire to sync over.

Square currently has a limit of 250 options for individual products created on Square. If products purchased on Faire exceed this threshold, we are not able to create the listing through our integration.

For example, if you have 250 variant names for ‘color’ in Square, and attempt to import a product ordered on Faire that has a new colour variant name that isn’t in the existing 250 values (like ‘reddish-brown’), Square will prevent Faire from creating a product listing in Square.

How can I import my products from Faire to Square if I am reaching the 250 variant limit on Square?

1. Import the product with ‘Split Variations’ instead of ‘Group Variations’.

This will create each variant of the product ordered as an individual product without variants on Square instead of one listing with multiple options with variants.

For products that have already been ordered:

1. In your Square ‘Unlinked’ tab, click the split arrow button on the product to ‘Split Variations’.
2. Click ‘Split’ in the modal that pops up.
3. You will now see each variant as a separate listing. You can select each product by clicking the checkbox to the left of the product.
4. Click ‘Add to Square’.
5. In the modal, click ‘Add’

These products will now be listed individually in Square.

For products on future orders:

1. In your Square ‘Settings’ tab, change the Product configuration for Product variations from ‘Group Variations’ to ‘Split Variations’.
2. Click ‘Save’.

Products variants will be split into individual products going forward. Please note that this will apply to all products going forward, not only products that are impacted by the 250 variant limit in Square.

2. Create product manually in Square

This product can be manually created in Square by changing the name of the variant (instead of ‘color’ the variant type can be named ‘color1’. Once created, the Faire product can be manually linked to the existing product in Square.

2. From the ‘unlinked’ tab in your Square integration settings in Faire, select the product you’d like to link by checking the checkbox on the left
3. Select ‘link to existing’ and select the newly created product from Square.
4. Click ‘Link’
