Ending child slavery one chocolate bar at a time. In spring of 2020 I found myself with a lot of extra time on my hands. That's when I learned that 70% of chocolate is made with cacao sourced from Ghana and the Ivory Coast where the Dept. of Labor estimates there are 2.8 million children working in fields. From that point, I learned how to source cacao ethically, how to make chocolate, and discovered that depending on where you get cacao beans from, the chocolate will TASTE DIFFERENT. WHAT?! Madagascar tastes like raspberry. Vietnam tastes like chocolate covered raisins. Yet, both use the same 2 ingredients, cacao beans, and sugar. My 70% dark chocolate bars are vegan (including the sugar), dairy free, gluten free, and slave free. Even people who don't like dark chocolate tell me they love it.
