To ensure that retailers on Faire can always find the best prices, all brands must follow our pricing policy. This means that wholesale and MSRP pricing must be the same or lower on Faire as on other places you sell your products, including your direct wholesale site if you have one.
What if I have different prices in different regions?
You can vary your prices for your products by currency, but your prices on Faire must be the same or lower than other sales channels for the same currency.
One simple way to think about it is that retailers should always be able to find your best prices on Faire for their currency.
What happens if my prices are higher on Faire?
If we notice that your product prices are higher on Faire compared to other channels, we’ll reach out and give you the opportunity to update your pricing and/or appeal if you believe an error was made. If you don’t adjust these pricing discrepancies, you may experience reduced visibility in the marketplace, suspension of products, or disqualification from programs like Top Shop.
How does Faire enforce the pricing policy?
We believe that the vast majority of brands in the marketplace comply with our pricing policy. However, in order to identify those who are non-compliant, we occasionally ask brands to participate in a pricing review. Typically, the pricing review process requires minimal time and effort.
If you’re asked to participate in a pricing review, you’ll receive clear, step-by-step instructions through email and in your brand portal to complete the process. If we find any discrepancies, we’ll work with you to update them.
What does Faire mean by “my brand will not be shown to new retailers” if I choose not to comply with a pricing review?
If you are contacted about a pricing review and do not comply by the specified date, your shop page may no longer be shown to new customers. To restore visibility to your brand, you’ll need to submit a valid catalog source for our team to use for your pricing review.
This is my first time selling B2B/wholesale and I can’t afford Faire’s commission. What should I do?
If you're new to wholesale, you may be trying to figure out how to make the costs of selling B2B work for your business. In some cases, not every product will make sense for B2B wholesale, based on costs and potential margins.
Here are a few important things to consider when you're deciding if your products can work for wholesale.
- Cost of goods sold (COGS): The cost of goods sold is the total cost of creating the product, including labor and materials.
- Your margin: You need to feel that the margin you get selling your products is sufficient relative to the costs of producing your products.
- Retailer margin: Retailers who buy your products will need to be able to sell your products at a reasonable margin. Typically that margin is 50%—or 2x the wholesale price.
One thing to also keep in mind is that Faire's commission helps us offer benefits to brands such as our customer management, payment processing, and marketing tools, virtual tradeshows and markets, as well as exposure and promotion in the marketplace.
I submitted my catalog for Top Shop. Does that exempt me from a pricing review?
Our pricing review process is separate from the Top Shop catalog check requirement. If you’ve already submitted your wholesale catalog for the quarterly Top Shop catalog check, you can resubmit the same catalog for your pricing review if it’s still up to date.
