Like everyone, my favorite foods take me back. Growing up in Oklahoma City, my family owned a window and siding company. Every Saturday morning, we would spend the day there entertaining ourselves. Every Saturday we would order take-out from our favorite BBQ place, eat lunch at the warehouse office and then go about our day. After moving to Chicago, I always missed that delicious barbecue sauce that I loved so much. My memories of growing up in Oklahoma will always be have a place in my heart. The Oklahoma BBQ I remember always offered a variety of meats - chopped brisket, pork ribs, smoked bologna and hot links, always prepared over hickory wood and served on a piece of plain white bread. The sauce is what I missed most! The kind you find at a Route 66 BBQ joint. Oklahoma Style BBQ sauce is an in-between sauce. It's in between a Carolina mop sauce and a thicker, tomato based Kansas City style sauce. Okie Bo’s was born after years of re-creating that Oklahoma style sauce. That same traditional taste - and at the same time using only the highest quality ingredients and no high fructose corn syrup or artificial flavors. To me it is total nostalgia - after sharing it, I realized that others loved it too. Okie Bo’s is a sauce that gets back to what it is really all about. Sharing a meal with friends and family, and making memories.
