Our story started when, we, Gabriela from Ecuador and Lewis from the U.K, crossed paths in the colonial city of Cuenca (Ecuador) and found themselves emerged in the unique weaving skills on display by the local artisans. The colours, textures and individual designs inspired the idea of Coco Cumbi to keep the weaving tradition alive around the world. Our mission is to bring to our customers the Ecuadorian culture and diversity through unique sophisticated pieces of handmade craft. At Coco Cumbi we care about our planet and the well-being of our local partners. We ensure our products come from sustainable practices. We have integrated the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in our business strategy in order to support human rights, promote development and protect our beloved planet. In line with our SDG targets, we have fostered the following practices and strategies into our business model. 1. With each product sold we plant one tree in partnership with OneTreePlanted an organisation focusing on the conservation of the tropical Amazon Rainforest 2. Fair payment to our artisans and we are against all forms of exploitation and discrimination. 3. Currently 70% of the materials used in the process of elaboration come from biodegradable sources. Our packaging is encouraged to be re-used and it is both recyclable and biodegradable.
