Two sisters from a little town in rural South Georgia, Janet Sexton and Sharanda Hurst, had a small dream which quickly became an enormous, successful reality in Steel Southern Designs. Born out of a desire to spend more time with their small children and families, the business sprang up in their own backyard after much prayer and soul-searching. It is with this prayerful, family-focused mentality that the sisters lovingly handcrafted their pieces for over ten years, and when they decided to sell the company in 2023, the task of carrying on their mission was entrusted to Nelson Gifts owned by Mark and Gretchen Nelson. Mark and Gretchen bought a small woodshop in Steubenville, OH in 1994, embarking on a journey to transform what had been a family tradition and hobby into a way of life. That journey has since taken them all over the country and brought beautiful products to countless homes, workplaces, and schools around the world. Operating within a family-first business model, the Nelsons, with their children and their extended family of employees, have stayed true to their faith and trade in manufacturing high-quality gifts that are still handmade here in the little river town of Steubenville, OH.
