Illustrated and designed by Sophia Levesque, Studio Undine invites you to explore a collection that was birthed from a profound love for the natural beauty of coastal Northern California, passion for slow design, and the personal lore of being of mixed ancestry. At each step of the design process, sustainability and longevity are considered, and Studio Undine only hopes to get closer to minimal waste with time. With a foundation forged through eight years in the realm of fashion design, focusing on sustainability, Sophia’s journey took a sudden turn in a new direction in 2022. Faced with burnout, she decided to step away from her career and remind herself why she pursued design to begin with, bringing Studio Undine to life. This inadvertently began an exploration of her mixed Latina heritage—a journey of self-discovery, a celebration of ancestral roots, as heritage and our connection to nature are inherently interwoven. Growing up amidst the presence of old-growth redwoods, playing in the tide pools of the powerful Pacific Ocean, and living in a community that prioritized play and connection to nature had a heavy impact on Sophia’s inspiration for design at a young age and still does today. Through mediums like rug tufting, illustrating stickers, art prints, and card design, she hopes to help you rediscover the joy of nature, the playfulness our inner child craves and the magic in our bloodlines.
