Matthew Brownie, originally from New Zealand, has been a professional chef for 27 years & is the Director/CEO of his own snack food company (The Skibbereen Food Company). Matthew moved to Skibbereen, West Cork Ireland in 2008 where he lives with his wife and two children. A decade ago, Matt enrolled with CIT as a mature student on their Culinary Arts Degree course and was given a piece of course work that would ultimately make a significant impact on his career in the catering and hospitality sector. The brief Matt was given was two pronged, either to create a product where there was a gap in the Irish market or to improve and develop an existing product. With a keen interest in sport and food, Matt focused on the Irish snack industry and came up with the idea of crunchy, munchy pork bites as the ideal snack on-the-go. Incidentally the project won the best business plan for the CIT Innovation Award in 2013. Using new product development methods and incorporating British, Irish and a bit of native Kiwi gastronomy, Matt created the tasty snack, pork crackling with an Irish twist. Scratch My Pork and The Skibbereen Food Company were born. As a physician and a mom, I realize the importance of good nutrition. I’m always reminding my kids to eat their vegetables and avoid junk foods. But when our son was diagnosed with cancer, making sure that he ate a balanced diet became even more challenging. While going thru chemotherapy, all he wanted to eat was junk foods and it drove us crazy! Back in 1996 Dave Willis bought an old van and began selling crisps and nuts to local pubs. The company grew steadily and in 2003 Dave decided to launch his own brand of crisps. Salty Dog was born named in honour of his cabin buddy, a scruffy Jack Russell pup called Ruby. Dave's wife Judy joined the team and the company went from strength to strength, adding more brands along the way.

Susan had always wanted to have her own business, but it took her until her 50’s, before she was finally willing to take that all-important leap of faith. You’ve probably noticed by now that our snacks are kind of quirky, and I guess you might be wondering what inspired them! Well, in short, the answer is… me - Anushi! ‘Professional’ snacker and founder of Plant Pops! Growing up in India, I spent my childhood crunching on the most amazing homemade snacks, which had a mind-blowingly crunchy texture! I was pretty surprised that I couldn’t find my favourite snacks in the UK, and that most people I asked had never even heard of them… As you can imagine, I spent literally years craving that homegrown crunch and eventually, I got bored of waiting. I wanted to make my favourite childhood snacks a staple for everyone, so why not just start making my own? After a LOT of recipe testing in my kitchen, I soon perfected our delicious popped lotus seeds and found my friends couldn't resist the punchy flavours either. So along with my good friend Ash, we began our Plant Pops journey, looking to change the whole UK snacksperience with a range of new mega-crunchy ingredients and authentically addictive tastes… The snack world’s about to get a lot crunchier!

In 2005, Jennifer was a single mother often cooking with her young daughter. She started Jennifer's homemade out of her passion for baking and the inspiration to create delicious products with integrity and quality. Our dough is made from scratch using an Italian biga and only a few natural ingredients. A biga is a pre-fermentation which gives our products delicious flavor, added texture, and makes them less perishable and easier to digest.
