In early 2019, I was on a mission to make some gifts for some of my regular clients at my massage therapy practice. I decided small jars of Himalayan Bath Salts would be perfect, so I went online and ordered what I thought was 5.5 lbs of Pink Himalayan Salt. While the total came to $49.95 plus shipping, and it seemed like some expensive salt, I figured these gifts would cover 20 clients, so I was getting a deal. To my surprise, a box so heavy I couldn’t even carry it arrived at my doorstep. I thought it must be a mistake, but there on the box was the label “Himalayan Salt Cart”. What I thought may have been a small mix-up with the order, turned into a happy accident. I opened the box and checked the receipt, realizing I had not ordered 5.5 lbs, but in fact 55 pounds. When looking to see what my possible options were, I saw the phone number of the company was a 973 area code (the area code from NJ where I grew up). But when I saw the address, I was even more shocked. They were located about 10 minutes from my childhood home and this just seemed like kismet. That is when the idea popped into my head. As a licensed massage therapist I have learned the benefits of exfoliation during my studies at the Swedish Institute College of Health Sciences in NYC. With my accumulated knowledge and the past few years creating scrubs, I knew this salt now was a part of a bigger intention to make your bath + shower a happier healthier place. Thus Jersey Girl Bath Co. was born.
