Once a 2,000 acre sheep ranch, The Lima, or as it was later called the McNab Ranch, is one of the oldest homesteads in Southern Mendocino County. Today we continue the agricultural legacy of the ranch with our sheep breeding program and olive oil production. We are proudly enrolled in the Mendocino Land Trust which guarantees that the Lima Ranch will be maintained for agricultural purposes indefinitely. Everything we do on the ranch is closed circle, meaning we tend to the orchard with resources generated only by the land. We never use pesticides or chemical fertilizers. Instead we opt for compost, mulching, grazing, and companion plantings. We believe that not only does this improve the quality of the land but ultimately the quality of the fruit. Our olives are completely estate grown right here on the ranch. We produce the classic Frantoio and Pendolino varieties from 40 year old trees that we have been lovingly reviving over the past few years. Once ripe they are all picked by hand ensuring the integrity of each fruit. We are happy to partner with Olvino for our milling. Located just six miles from the ranch we are able to keep our entire process completely localized. The fruit is stone milled using traditional European methods resulting in robust and complex flavors.
