Holstein Folds creates lamps and other interior from the starting point of origami, the Japanese art of paper folding. The lamps are made from hand folded paper modules that are assembled to harmonic shapes and integrated with an LED-bulb. After a rough period in his life, designer Tune Holstein revisited his childhood hobby and found in the proces of folding paper the tranquility and piece of mind when he needed it the most. Today he receives trainees who are socially vulnerable and work with their social skills and work skills in order to find a better path in (work)life. Each paper module of the lamps and the way they are assembled add a unique kaleidoscopic effect to the lamps when lit. Besides the lamps other items such as postcards and paper decor are sold as well. Even DIY-kits are sold, so people can try the art of origami for themselves. The purpose of Holstein Folds is two-folded: to pass on that story of recovery, restored self-confidence, hope and empowerment through beautiful lamps in the homes of the customers and to inspire the trainees to think differently about themselves and their future role in the educational system or the labor market.Read their story
