The name “Pharos” has many special meanings. It is the ancient Greek word for “lighthouse” and commonly refers to an island in the Mediterranean Sea at Alexandria, Egypt. This island is the home of an ancient lighthouse, Pharos of Alexandria, which is one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Pharos also means “shining light” and we believe every one of you is a wonder of the world who will shine with our jewelry. While it definitely has beautiful meanings, we named our shop Pharos after a memory of ours. We are a couple from Istanbul, Turkey who have been together for five years now. Lighthouses has a very special place in our hearts as our first date was at a lighthouse. When we were looking for a name for our shop lighthouse was one of the first words that came up to our minds and we instantly knew it was the right one. In Pharos Jewellery we bring together my passion for art and aesthetics with İlker’s knowledge of jewelry. While İlker is an electric and electronics engineer, he comes from a family of jewelers.
