KAILU is an inspired-luxury home brand featuring two raw-silk collections with contemporary designs and natural materials that honor centuries of artisan expertise. Designed in San Francisco and proudly handmade in ancient water towns in the Yangtze River Delta — start of the maritime Silk Road and favorite silk region of Qing Dynasty emperors — KAILU’s extraordinary home furnishings are filled with fluffy raw silk that is hand stretched by local artisans for an indulgent night’s sleep and long-lasting comfort. “KAILU started as a way to support a fading craft in the East and bring a transformative, natural product to the West,” says LiLi Tan, founder of KAILU. “We work closely with artisans whose families have passed down the sericulture tradition for generations, so each piece is thoughtfully handmade using thousands-year-old techniques.” Our Heritage Duvets and Open Road Portable Throws are both filled with raw silk that is hand pulled into fluffy blanket-sized layers by passionate female artisans. Plus, our duvet sets feature a dual-core design, customizable for personal sleep styles and climates: Insert one core for summer and two for winter. More, the name KAILU means "Open Road" in Mandarin and is inspired by Kailushen, a god (shen) who removes barriers and clears the way for new ideas and experiences.
