Originally aspiring to help other dogs and be a reliable side income, Riker’s Dog Treats has grown into a full blown B2B and B2C business that is a beloved brand for many people and their fur-family across Michigan, much of the U.S and even Puerto Rico. The company was founded in 2014, is owned by Leslie Cowell and ran with the help of her husband, Adam Cowell. Riker’s Dog Treats was founded after Leslie helped our own dog, Riker overcome some health obstacles by offering him a more natural diet. The idea was launched because he became intolerant to the dyes, fillers, and preservatives that were running rampant through much of the pet food supply. Changing his diet extended his life and allowed him to surpass the vet’s expectations. As a teenager and into her early 20’s, Leslie worked in a commercial bakery setting at Michigan State University. By utilizing those previously acquired skill sets in high volume baking, she was able to devise and produce a dog treat product line that solved many of the digestive problems our dog and many others seemed to be having. Our product line embodies a minimal ingredient approach, while providing functional nutrition from the ingredients themselves.
