Why ‘Footle’? Verb. To engage in fruitless activity; mess about; talk or act foolishly. When setting up the business, this old English word and its meaning seemed to sum up the feeling around what we were doing! Thankfully, while still having fun, running Footle has proved to be less fruitless than feared. Footle was developed by the team behind Humblewood, a well established handmade homewares business. Using over 40 years of graphic design experience, Bob and Eunice Bryant set out to create a new brand in the wonderfully creative world of stationery publishing. Our aim is to produce stationery and giftware with bold, colourful designs, while using as planet-friendly processes as we can. Based in our studio in Cumbria, UK, Footle is a true family-run 'cottage industry'. Footle's cards are supplied naked (ie not in cellophane bags) and are produced on demand to avoid waste. They are printed in Great Britain with vegan friendly inks onto FSC(c) certified board, using print presses that are CO2 Neutral.
