Batik Indah was set up in 1993 by Andy and Rachel Mackonochie. Following extensive travels through South South East Asia the couple returned to the Uk and decided to leave their safe jobs and launch Batik Indah. Initially Batik Indah traded as a retailer on the outdoor festival circuit and became well known to festival goers for selling unique Indonesian crafts and, in particular, original batik paintings. In 1996 Andy and Rachel launched Batik Indah wholesale selling their range of wooden carvings, furniture and batik paintings to retailers across the UK. Twenty six years later Batik Indah are still going strong. Andy and Rachel visit Bali and Java three times a year and have built up great experience of buying from these beautiful Islands. They offer a wide range of distinctive , hand crafted, fair trade products.
