Acerola powder is made from acerola cherry — a raw edible fruit that is native to Mexico, Texas, Panama, Brazil, Guatemala and Jamaica. This fruit tastes somewhat sour, with a slight apple note and has an extremely high vitamin C content (1700 mg to 5000 mg vitamin C per 100 g). By way of comparison, 100 g oranges only contain 50 mg vitamin C. That's why a spoonful of acerola powder gives your smoothie that extra vitamin kick. But aceroal is not only good in smoothies: Acerola powder for baking - During dough preparation, the stability of the dough is improved by adding the powder. This has a positive effect on kneading (dough becomes more stretchy, stable and easier to shape) and then letting it rise (dough can better absorb the carbon dioxide produced during yeast fermentation, the end product becomes more airy and shapely).
