Afia's Leaf started as a journey to honor how our ancestors covered our children with prayers and herbs. Afia’s Leaf culminates the Founder's five years of learning indigenous herbal remedies through real-world experiences in Africa and Latin America, as well as botanical studies at the University of Georgia. Afia Lockett, a past Georgia Tech Research Institute intern, winner of several UGA Entrepreneurship prize competitions, and recipient of the P&G Rooted in Science Scholarship, is not a newcomer to the leadership requirements and drive needed to create a successful initiative. In addition to Afia’s Leaf, she is a full-time student pursuing a Bachelors & Masters dual degree program for Ecology and Marine Science at the University of Georgia. As the founder and CEO of Afia’s Leaf, Afia is sourcing indigenous herbal medicines from traditional healers worldwide, promoting environmental biodiversity, and fostering empowerment among historically disenfranchised communities. Afia's passion for holistic Black liberation and making natural healing tools accessible to everyone is made possible by the support of the Afia's Leaf community. At Afia's Leaf, our logo is the West African symbol of Sankofa - meaning wisdom can be found within the past.
