Hello, my name is My-Cherie, Founder & Artist of fashion brand Viva La Silk. I grew up in South Carolina, raised by an immigrant mom, from Caimanera Oriente, Cuba and an African-American dad from Harlem, New York. I created Viva La Silk because I wanted to inspire women to feel beautiful and confident through my Art and the vibrancy of my Afro-Caribbean roots. My motto in life is, “Do what you love. Love what you do.” I believe we should all chase after the things that we are passionate about. I have always had a profound love for creativity, fashion and art. Prior to launching my brand, I had a successful and exciting career in the modeling and acting industry in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, New York, Greece, Atlanta and throughout the state of Texas. I’ve walked the runway for well-noted designers such as, Dolce & Gabbana, Armani and Oscar De La Renta and was inspired to create my own fashion collection in 2019. Our Viva La Silk creations are hand-dyed, hand painted and hand sewn in small batches in Austin, TX . Our dyes and paints are non-toxic, eco-friendly and made in the USA and and created from repurposed silk. Our light-weight, breathable, versatile scarves, pants, dresses and accessories are perfect for travel and pack conveniently. They can be worn on the plane, to a nice dinner, at the beach, by the pool or a night out on the town. Our colors add a pop of style to any outfit!Read their story
