In 2013, we learned that our son, Keanu was diagnosed with Autism and ADHD. Unfortunately, there was very limited resources and therapy opportunities related to Autism in Japan at the time. Sadly, Japanese society as a whole does not openly accept people with disabilities. So we knew we needed to find a community where we could get support and advice to help our son. We decided to move to Seattle, Washington to seek additional therapies and resources to help our son. However, therapies and sensory products were very expensive and our insurance did not cover them. As we struggled to find affordable, quality products to help our son’s challenges with anxiety, sleep, sensory and attention, we decided to create our own brand instead. That’s when LakiKid was born.
