Shelby Oredson is the artist behind Broken Paddle Studio, a watercolor art and stationery house specializing in outdoorsy art prints, greeting cards, stickers, and custom artwork. She currently lives in Maryland, but spent the previous three years in Sitka, Alaska where her husband flew helicopters for the U.S. Coast Guard. Shelby's formal education is in English writing and secondary education, though she dabbled in watercolor classes throughout her years in undergrad. Her transition into motherhood during the spring of 2019 played a pivotal role in her career path as a creative, as it was during those precious moments of solitude (nap time) when she found herself at the kitchen table, practicing a long-forgotten hobby and molding herself into the artist she is today. Shelby's work is heavily influenced by her affinity with the wild outdoors and her time spent on the lakes of northern Minnesota as well as the mountains of Alaska. Read their story
