Hi, I'm Jalid, and SIMPLE leather goods is my life/passion! After more than 13 years of working in graphic design, I decided it was time for a change, and decided to be a shoe maker, spent more than a year learning the craft until I saw the need to go back to graphic design due to the lack of income and my wedding coming up. Now with limited time still needed to make leather goods, the first thing I made is the wallet I use today, made out from one piece of leather and almost no stitching. Fast forward some months, (got married) and, was getting my first orders from friends and family. So I decided to give it my full attention and quit, once again, my graphic design (secure, good-paying) job and risk it all, to make leather goods, and with the help of some friends got SIMPLE leather goods off the ground. I have been selling in Guatemala for 7 years now, and I'm working with a small artisan team who keep using traditional methods of craftsmanship, paying them fair wages, and together we aim to bring you the best in top quality leather goods, hope you love them as much as we do!

Hi! I'm Nyla. I used to design apparel and accessories for other brands but felt that I was contributing to the overwhelming amount of waste, consumerism and unethical practices in the fashion industry, and that I wasn't making an impact. While traveling in Southeast Asia in 2009, I was inspired to create TORRAIN; a brand that unites all that I care about: environmental protection, community empowerment, adventure and design. TORRAIN bags are unique + sustainable, designed in Portland OR and ethically handcrafted by artisan groups in Cambodia. They are made from up cycled, colorful cement, rice and feed bags and our signature liner is recycled from plastic bottles, lending them to be lightweight, extremely durable and waterproof - perfect for adventure! 1:1 initiative: For every bag sold, $1 is donated to rotating organizations that support sustainable practices and healthy communities. TORRAIN also employs and empowers artisans in Cambodia. The name TORRAIN is a combination of the word, terrain and the phrase, 'to rain'. When it rains the earth is fruitful.
