About Oblik Atelier

My name is Mia. I am the creator of Oblik Atelier. I chose to name my studio Oblik, rather than Mia Hebib jewelry, because this expression is not about me. Rather, it’s about a process and a desire to create the most unique, sculptural, alluring, elegant and most powerful object in jewelry form. Oblik means “shape” in Croatian (my birthplace) and forming shapes has been the underlying theme in every single piece I have created over the last decade or so. There are many jewelry techniques. Most commonly known is the process of casting, where mold is created, and exact pieces can be replicated. I use a process of forming and forging with the most important tool, my hands, alongside hammers, pliers and mandrels. Each piece is formed and shaped by hand using fundamental jewelry techniques, like sawing, bending, forming, soldering and polishing. This process means that each piece, though similarly reproduced, retains its own uniqueness, as metal has a will of its own and I am an imperfect machine. In my perfect world, every woman that recognizes a creator of any kind inside herself would own a Oblik Atelier piece. Before running Oblik Atelier, I have been instrumental in re-launching Robert Lee Morris collection as well as launching multiple high-profile fashion brands like AllSaints jewelry and Coach outlet/wholesale to name a few.
