The brand was launched in 2014 at the San Francisco Gift Fair by Janet Tupper, a serial entrepreneur with a background in sales, marketing + product development + her then boyfriend/partner Christopher Dunagan, a Seattle IT guy ( now her husband.) Janet, an avid cook + wine lover, traveled frequently to wine country in Napa, Sonoma, Willamette Valley & Walla Walla + fell in love. She invested 3+ years in developing the brand + creating a product assortment, assisted by her daughter, Dylan Rupert, a graduate of California College of the Arts. In 2017, Janet, Chris + Mercantile 12 moved from its birthplace in Seattle to Napa to build on its success in California. Mercantile 12 is a favorite of wine lovers everywhere who value the quality construction + sophisticated designs which reflect their wine country aesthetic.
