Shishido Creative is comprised of international couple, Taka & Mandy Shishido. Taka is a traditional Japanese Tebori (hand poked tattoo) artist from Tokyo, Japan, and Mandy is an Asian-American designer from the beautiful Pacific Northwest. Together, they created Shishido Creative as a way to bring their designs to life and share their authentic cultures to the world, unfettered by the Western gaze. That may sound a little pretentious, but the core of our brand has always been centered on authenticity, focusing our designs around our Japanese & Fil-Am heritage and experiences. There are plenty of "kawaii" brands inspired by an Asian aesthetic out there whose primary goal is cuteness. Our goal is to not only share the beauty of our cultures, but also the stories and folklore behind each design.
