My favorite memories growing up involve family around a table; a table filled with Italian dishes and a cacophony of voices. I would sometimes place a recorder in the center of the table to capture the beautiful sounds of my Italian-American family. It was a thunderous symphony. Upon my arrival in Florence, I felt immediately connected. The lyrical dance of the language had nuances from my Italian roots in upstate NY. It was warm and inviting like my grandmother's house and the intoxicating aromas from restaurants transported me to my aunt's kitchen. The heart-beat of family is the table. A junior year at the American College in Florence started my life-long relationship with Italy. Six wonderful years later, I decided to return home and bring Italy with me. I started Via Graceffo with a few bucks in my pocket and the artistic connections I developed while living and working in Florence. A chance encounter with a friend in Venice introduced me to the magic of glass. With Master Glass Blowers in Murano we create beautiful pieces that enhance the experience of being with family and friends around the table. The opportunity to work with amazing artists who follow age-honored traditions is my bonus. I have a personal relationship with every artist I work with, some date back 2 generations. My goal was and still is to find pieces that are visually inspiring, intrinsically functional and smile inducing.Read their story
