Deborah Maguire is an illustrator and writer, working from her small studio in the Irish countryside. Originally from Dublin, Deborah studied in the field of Psychology, obtaining her PhD in the subject, whilst working in both the therapeutic and academic parts of the field. She ran her own specialist consultancy service, and also worked at University level, teaching and supervising trainees in the field. Deborah went on to train as a yoga teacher, and delved further into the topic of meditation and mindfulness. All of these threads heavily influence her work today. In 2016, Deborah, her husband, young son and two golden retrievers made a “big” move... .... and left their home to start life in the countryside. They found a special spot on the Meath / Cavan border, in need of a lot of love, but surrounded by trees, and hills, and all the magic that nature has to offer…where they started the next chapter of their lives. This new phase brought with it a change in career direction, and an opportunity to dip her toe back into the creative world of writing, handlettering, and drawing, and so began a new path… Deborah uses pencil, paint and ink to illustrate little characters, and capture moments through drawing and words.
