About John Candor

Our company was born by 2 friends who are passionate about leather goods, team sports, helping our local communities, international cuisine and the country of Colombia. As life long users of leather goods we found affordable products to be lacking in design, functionality, durability and ethical business practices. We started designing our own. On one trip to Colombia we discovered 3rd generation leather artisans using time-honored craftsmanship and rich materials to create exquisite leather products. What did we do? We partnered with them! But we also discovered real-life challenges small family businesses in Colombia face following decades of civil war, narcoterrorism and COVID-19 pandemic. We are fully committed to supporting Colombia's economy with our business and other post conflict community-building initiatives while we build a brand that we and you can be proud to be a part of. This is why we picked the name Candor for our brand. Unfortunately, that domain name was already taken, so we put my name in front of it and got – John Candor We were supposed to launch our 1st product through Kickstarter in the spring of 2020, but the covid-19 pandemic had other plans. At the end of 2020 we regrouped with plans to launch on Kickstarter in June, 2021 and we raised $47,789! We’re a US Army Veteran owned, small family business based out of Dallas, Texas. We're simple regular guys who enjoy freedom, new adventures, sharing good BBQ, and playing soccer on the weekends.
