MAHSA Chai is the perfect blending of its founder’s heritage, hope, and mission. From a gangly seven-year-old immigrant girl who was bullied for her nose, hair, and accent to becoming a successful model, private chef, and out-of-the-box food and culture influencer, Mahsa’s personal journey to self-acceptance and belonging is a hard-earned gift she believes in paying forward. It is the WHY at the heart of everything Mahsa does: her hope and vision for a world where women and all people can access greater wholeness and freedom. “My earliest memories are of my mother serving family and strangers in our basement in Tehran, windows shuttered, as the bombs fell. Even in those trying times, food anchored me.” Fast forward to her family leaving her home country for the States. “I felt uprooted from everything I knew. Food was my way of holding on to myself and forging new connections. Over and over when I need it most, I return home through flavor, ritual, and nourishment, sharing what I know and love with others.” During the pandemic, Mahsa found great comfort in her kitchen, especially in rituals like making and sharing chai. To fend off the jitters of caffeine, she began playing with her Persian family’s recipe, using naturally caffeine-free red rooibos instead of black tea, and even boosting her distinctive new blend with powerful adaptogens.
