“This sauce is so good I could eat it on piece of white bread.” In a small South Carolina town in 1954, Clinton and Thelma Metts opened METTS BBQ Restaurant to supplement their farming income. Through their hard work, METTS BBQ became a local favorite. METTS BBQ Sauce was not only enjoyed at the restaurant, but also through fundraisers where the famous sauce covered BBQ chicken that was sold to raise money for the local high school for nearly 4 decades. For over 65 years, people in the South Carolina Lowcountry have been enjoying METTS BBQ Sauce on pork, beef, and chicken. Clinton and Thelma’s great-grandson and his wife are carrying on the METTS BBQ heritage through this undeniably flavorful sauce. Many things have changed over the years, but this sauce remains the same. It is made with love and kindness that makes the world taste and feel a little bit better.
