Puppy Riot's inspiration was Heather's first dog as an adult, sweet sweet Ida Mae. Heather has a BFA from NSCAD (Nova Scotia College of Art and Design) and a BED from MSVU. She has worked as a professional artist and scenic artist for the film Industry for over 20 years. Her personal artwork and professional reputation speaks to her love of colour, pattern, and texture, as well as, her attention to detail. Like many dog businesses, her accessory obsession started by not being able to find just the right item to make Ida Mae shine! Over time, one handmade item became many and she delightfully discovered that there is no end to the different mood, personalities each accessory can evoke. Eventually, Ida's closet rivalled the likes of Jackie Kennedy's—or perhaps Kim Kardashian's—and Heather decided to build a business and began to share her designs. Heather transferred her love of colour, pattern, and texture, as well as her attention to detail, and put it to use making sure all the doggie fashionistas's are living their truth!
