I'm Emilie Kleiner, owner and maker at Cicada Design | Vintage Revival. I have a degree in Visual Communications and my background is a unique combination of arts management, nonprofit community development, and subcontract administration for the government contracting industry. After over 11 years in government contracting, I knew it was time to resurrect Cicada Design and pursue my longtime passion of making jewelry. My jewelry is made of Liberty of London print fabric and wood pieces. As an American-made business owner, I source 100% of my raw materials from other American makers and businesses. The mission of Cicada Design is to breathe fresh air into the lives of its customers. Fresh air that revives the places in your soul that don't feel alive anymore. That is why the tagline is "Vintage Revival;" I aim to bring life to the old, dusty places in the heart. My work is inspired by identity and process. It challenges the label of a "late bloomer" and redirects attention to the times and seasons for which we are meant to bloom. No part of the process of seed, time, and harvest is wasted...it is all part of the glory of blooming. After all, every flower must push through the dirt! The tight florals and cheerful colorways of the Liberty of London fabric evoke the joy and hope of new growth; a garden for your ears.
