Hi there! I’m Lisa Marsh, founder and CEO of Ms. P’s Gluten Free. My journey began with years of health issues—acid reflux, digestive problems, and more. In 2009, my mom, the original Ms. P, passed away from congestive heart failure at 60. Then, in 2018, my sister passed away from a heart attack at just 51. Determined to break this cycle, I shifted to a gluten-free diet in 2009, hoping to improve my health and honor my family. However, the gluten-free foods I found lacked flavor, leaving me unsatisfied. Inspired by my mom’s cooking, I started experimenting in my kitchen, creating my own gluten-free snacks and treats. They were so delicious that friends and family couldn’t get enough. I knew I was onto something special. That’s when I decided to turn my passion into a business: Ms. P’s Gluten Free, named in honor of my mom, Mrs. Youlas Patterson-Brown, affectionately known as Ms. P. She was a strong, independent woman who raised six of us on the southside of Chicago with very little money, but a whole lotta love. I’m doing this for my mother, my sister, my dad, and for me—and my family, friends, community, and you. I want to help everyone eat healthy, move more, and live long, vibrant lives while enjoying the foods we love. Helping people live well nourishes me. I hope our honestly good foods nourish you, too.
