Hi, we’re Erika and Josh. We're building an innovative food brand called Tigris Foods based in sunny Berkeley, California. We love traveling and exploring different cultures, so when the pandemic put much of our travel plans on hold, we decided to do something about it. We're a food scientist and a marketer who were inspired to make food products from renowned culinary heritages more accessible in North America. Our goal is to make products that are easy to find, in sustainable, convenient packaging, and modernized for today’s palate and health and environmental concerns while paying homage to the authentic traditions behind our recipes. Our first products are stone ground sesame butters, based on tahini, a versatile and underappreciated ingredient. The flavors - sweet halva, herby za'atar, dark chocolate, and crunchy classic - are unique in the market, capture current industry trends, and are made with all organic and non-GMO ingredients. Erika, a professional food scientist for over 20 years and near life-long vegetarian, grew up eating halva as a special treat. Her children have nicknamed her a “Tahini Addict” for putting it on everything from spaghetti to cereal. Josh’s great grandparents owned an old school candy shop, the kind with the fancy milkshake machine behind the counter. His grandfather owned a bakery, and his father worked in food product development for 30 years. Creating delicious food is in his DNA. Thanks for helping to make TIGRIS come alive!Read their story
