As a child in Lima, Perú, I always dreamt of becoming an artist. I was that kid who is always painting and drawing. I collected all kind of stationery—Sarah Kay was my favorite, but Strawberry Shortcake and Snoopy were at the very top. My life took me on a different route, first Germany and then the world of academia. It was later in life and when I was living in Florida that I discovered illustration was the right path for me, a perfect marriage between my love of watercolors and my imaginary whimsical world. I have always loved greeting cards, giving them, receiving them. Back in the day, I used to paint original drawings with watercolors, pastels or acrylics and give them to my closest friends and family every Christmas and for special events and birthdays. The cards I've received over the years I still keep today in a box in groups all nicely tied with beautiful ribbons. From time to time I open that box and can’t help tearing up remembering those special moments and friends, some of whom are no longer with me physically but forever present in my heart. I believe a greeting card is one of the simplest ways to show how much we care and is a great way to keep in touch with friends and family, not only during the holidays but throughout the year. I wish that the person who receives the card will be touched by the art of the illustration and moved by the warm loving words of the person who sent the card. Maybe that card will be treasured and kept in a special place.
