Charleston Coffee Roasters was founded in 2005 on a simple premise — a city as fascinating as Charleston, South Carolina deserves a coffee that reflects its character, culinary originality, unique environment, and attention to quality. We pride ourselves on searching the world over for the highest quality coffee beans that our master craftsmen slow roast in small batches to coax out the unique flavors. A careful “cupping” of each batch is performed to ensure consistency in every bag, so our customers know they can have a coffee experience worth savoring every day. The origin story of our “turtle bean” logo is one that lives close to our hearts and drives us to be good stewards of the environment. Every summer on the beaches near our home base in South Carolina, the loggerhead turtles return to nest year after year. It is a much-loved tradition, with scores of volunteers — including the President of Charleston Coffee Roasters, Lowell Grosse — walking the beaches, morning and night, searching for nests of turtle eggs so that they can be watched over and protected as a threatened and endangered species. Hence, Charleston Coffee Roasters proudly displays a coffee bean that resembles the loggerhead turtle to grace its brand — a reminder of the global importance of sustainability and concern for our natural environment.
