On a deeper level, this is also a social enterprise empowering women who are coming out of domestic violence. Our founder, Maaike Fettah, knows firsthand the challenges and trauma that domestic violence can cause. She was able to escape her abusive relationship and rebuild her life with the help of a supportive community. After several years of selling artisanal soap & candles with her kids at local markets, she wanted to give back & help other women who are in similar situations. We partner with local organizations that provide services to those who are fleeing domestic violence & provide women with mentorship, a living wage & a supportive workplace. Everyone deserves a chance to heal, grow, & shine. Making candles with us is not only a job, but also a deeply therapeutic process. Our passion for candle craft is HIGH. Our propriety blend of coco/soy wax is clean burning & wicked good at throwing scent. No dirty chemicals here.
