About ixöq

ixöq is a women operated social enterprise working with local artisans in Guatemala to create unique, handmade, fair trade products from recycled plastic cord & upcycled fabrics. Our products are fun, colorful, festive and useful, all while honoring the culture and traditions of Guatemala. The items are designed by ixöq and handcrafted by our artisan partners using sustainably sourced materials and traditional weaving methods. ixöq means women in the Mayan dialects, Kaqchikel and Tzutujil and women is where our dedication and focus lies. We work with women artisans; we support flexible working schedules that allow women to be sustainably employed while fulfilling their more traditional roles in the home; we design for women; and we pay women a fair wage for their work. All of our proceeds support the women and each woman plays an integral role in the design and creation process. The presence and hard work of each artisans shines through in each of our products resulting in highly crafted, durable and useful items for you and your home.
