Mad Darling Jessica Broussard - Chandler Hi! I am a native of Laplace - a small town 20 miles west of New Orleans, I grew up listening to the soulful sounds of jazz in the French Quarter, joining in on the beautiful chaos of Mardi Gras and eating as much Creole and Cajun food as possible. Like the thousands of other New Orleans residents whose lives were rocked after Katrina, I realized my true love of this place that was so unique in its character and culture. ‘Resilience’ is a word that is used a lot in people’s discussion of post Katrina New Orleans, but in 2008 I embraced the meaning of resilience in my own life when my daughter Taylor was born prematurely and I had to stop working to stay home with her. During this time I thought a lot about what was important in life. I was overwhelmed by the support of my family and friends and found that through my trials I learned a new understanding of love, care, motherhood, friendship and what it means to be a woman. About Mad Darling I decided to share my passions by creating New Orleans inspired candles that people could connect to. In 2009, in the kitchen of my small Uptown shotgun house, I poured my first candle. Since that day, I have painstakingly tested and selected unique fragrances to capture the essence of the many unique women, scents and experiences of New Orleans. I use 100% soy wax and phthalates free fragrances. Read their story
