In 2005 I was diagnosed with adenomyosis. When the doctors said that the only cure would be a hysterectomy or to have a baby I was incensed! I was only 25 and neither was an option for me. They wanted to put me on birth control pills to regulate my hormones, but I felt like that was just covering up the symptoms and not addressing the actual hormonal imbalances. This led me on a search to find out why my hormones were so out of balance. I learned that many environmental toxins acted like estrogen in the body, and many of these xenoestrogens, like aluminums in antiperspirant, were in the personal care products I was using on my skin. I searched for products without harmful chemicals, but even the products in the health foods stores had parabens and phthalates. So, I started making products for myself. After my friends and family started using my products and giving rave reviews, I thought, hey! This could be a business! Why don't I sell these at the farmer's market on the weekends? In 2007 Bubble & Bee Organic was born. A short year later we had landed our first wholesale account with the Rocky Mountain Region of Whole Foods and launched our website. Now, more than a decade later, Bubble & Bee is still going strong. In 2019 I redesigned all our product labels to be retail-ready and more cohesive than our initial designs offered. And now I've become a first-time mom at 42!

The story of Pit Liquor began at a most unusual time, during my pregnancy with our first child. My husband, Jason, was concerned about harmful ingredients in deodorants so we’d been trying natural alternatives but none of them worked. One day, out of frustration, I slapped hand sanitizer on my armpits and headed out the door issuing Jason a challenge to find something that actually worked. When I got home, I didn’t stink, and that set Jason off on a solution. Jason is a materials scientist and a bit of an inventor. He took the positives of the hand sanitizer (killed bacteria) and considered the negatives ( it’s semi-toxic, boring, and not particularly fragrant) and reached into the liquor cabinet and pulled out a bottle of whiskey. Major lightbulb moment! Whiskey is regulated, edible, and full of bacteria-killing alcohol. From there, Jason began reading medical textbooks and consulted with doctors. He did research trials and found a perfect formula all while sticking to a motto to use only ingredients that are safe enough to eat. Every Pit Liquor product is all-natural. We never compromise on that. All of our products come in recyclable glass and we offer refill bottles as a way to lessen our footprint. Our ambition is big, we want to play our part in transitioning the world from toxic to natural, one armpit at a time. Today, we sell our products in all 50 states and Canada.
