About Aunt Lisa's Recipe Gifts

"I’m Lisa Hovis, and I created Aunt Lisa’s Recipe Gifts because I believe that good food nurtures us at a level that goes beyond feeling full. I love to bake and cook, and for years making old family recipes has helped create a sense of connection to the loved ones I couldn’t see regularly. I’ve explored recipes from numerous bygone eras, collected them as I’ve traveled, and modified them to fit our modern needs and tastes. What I love about these recipes is how universal they are. They are relatively easy to make, which is why we’ve all enjoyed or made some version of them. Two things almost all people have in common are family and food. I believe that the Aunt Lisa brand captures both and that's why people connect so strongly to our products and look forward to our seasonal releases. If you're looking to carry cheerful and purposeful kitchen hot pads, tea towels, aprons, or décor, I hope you’ll consider Aunt Lisa’s. While digital tablets may replace cookbooks eventually, we'll always need a place to wipe our hands and a touchstone to remind us of the good things in life." Lisa Hovis is a digital designer and photographer who lives and works in Ames, Iowa. Her brick-and-mortar boutique, Photosynthesis, offers customized photo gifts and décor, and media digitization and restoration. After testing and perfecting her recipes, and designing the corresponding art, she uses sublimation printing to print each item by hand on various fabric kitchen accessories.
