About Remedy Botanicals

As a young woman in Berkeley, California, I shopped at a store called the Body Shop, (eventually renamed Body Time). This was a lovely place, with gorgeous wood display cases and towering ceilings. Walls adorned with old black and white family photos of the founding family. There was a fragrance bar that kept me busy for hours, creating my own fragrances. So fun! The business was a local beloved destination. Oddly, as these things happen, years later as a wife and new mother I became fast friends with the granddaughter of the founder of Body Time. She worked for Body Time as it had been renamed, and her mother was then the owner. As a gift to me, I was very budget minded and didn't really know about quality products, my friend brought me skin care that her mother had developed for their store. This enchanting, decadent skin care was the pride of the business, so lovely, luxurious and natural. This was before sustainable packaging and attention to sustainable ingredient sourcing was trendy, but this product line had it all, back in the late 1990s. I was hooked. The business was sold to another family, the stores continued until spring of 2018 when they were closed abruptly. Heartbroken and desperate for my products, I was obsessed by the idea of carrying them on. With the support of the founding family, I recreated their formulas and have expanded on them here. I launched this business during Covid, my offering of self care and simple luxury in everyday life.
