We are a family-owned Japanese tea producer making traditional, but high-quality Japanese green teas and matcha in Shizuoka, Japan. We're committed to quality and product safety of tea-making and we do everything ourselves to ensure our products meet our high standards of safety and flavor. Also, in order to consistently obtain the freshest and most special tea leaves, we are committed to working directly with Japanese tea farmers. In Japan, tea farmers traditionally sell their tea indirectly to tea producers through government auctions. However, we're working directly with our tea farmers, actively cultivating strong relationships with them to ensure access to high-quality tea leaves. We have also developed our own innovative "high roasting (火入れ, hi-ire) technique," and this method is the key to making our signature Sencha Fukamushi green tea exceptional. Since our tea plants are grown in the highlands of southwest Shizuoka, Japan at elevations of 1,500 - 2,000 feet, Sugimoto select tea leaves can stand up to these high temperatures. Most of our matcha and green teas are made from spring harvest leaves, which have a sweet taste and rich umami flavor.Read their story
