Our co-founder, Siwat, spent the first three years of life in the hospital and had undergone 10 major surgeries before his 12th birthday. His devoted mother would make him ginger-based, Thai home remedies to help with his recovery. Siwat experienced the benefits of ginger first-hand and wanted to create a product to help others fell better. With a Masters in Physiology, he reviewed medical research and discovered that a certain dose of ginger had clinically-proven benefits including muscle recovery, digestion and immunity. From there he developed the first Recoup recipes in the tiny kitchen of his Manhattan studio. Susan was introduced to Siwat by a mutual friend. As an avid athlete, Susan loved the muscle recovery and anti-inflammatory benefits of ginger. She was fed up with fitness drinks that were loaded with sugar and artificial ingredients and wanted something that she could feel good about drinking after a yoga class or surf session. Together we developed Recoup with a mission to help others feel better and well through plant-powered, modern remedies.
