Flower + Flame began as a quartine hobby and desire to take control of my time and schedule. Like most people, in early 2020 I took some time off work, and it was during this time away from my regular job that I began to realize there was so much more to life than working a 9 to 5. In July of 2020 during some quartine downtime, I stumbled upon polymer clay jewelry and was instantly intrigued. I knew absolutely nothing about making clay jewelry but decided to dive in headfirst. Being so new to clay and jewelry making, it was difficult at times and most certainly tested my patience, but I tried my best to use every mishap as a lesson. And then, as if 2020 wasn't a hard enough year on its own, in August 2020 my sister was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer very unexpectedly. My family was devastated. The news of her diagnosis hurt my heart so much, at times it felt like I would never recover, but I soon started to realize that working on my newfound hobby seemed to be the only time my mind was quiet and not in a whirlwind of sadness and worry. Having a creative outlet brought joy and happiness back into my life after the tragedy of my sister's diagnosis. Creating these products has helped me in ways I never knew possible and was too good not to share, and thus Flower + Flame was born. I will forever create in memory of my wonderfully loving, kind, & smart sister Sarah. I love you and I miss you every day Sarah.
