J.Q. Dickinson Salt-Works is a revival of a family business that started in 1813 on the Virginia frontier. Malden, WV sits on top of the remnants of the ancient Iapetus Ocean, one of earth's earliest seas. The salt has been dissolved by a fresh water aquifer. We draw this pristine brine to the surface with a well. It is solar evaporated, then hand harvested on the same family land that our ancestors used to make salt in the 1800's. The mineral rich salt has a unique, pleasing flavor and texture, renowned by chefs from around the country. We added a line of caramel sauces to pair with our salts, as well as 5 delicious spice blends. We expanded to be a Mercantile to carry amazing hand crafted items from other Appalachian producers. New products will be added frequently.
