I design my own range of fabulous needlework kits and quirky handbags and accessories. I'm hugely motivated by colour, it's exhilarating and at the same time weirdly calming. I love chopping and stitching, the more details the better. So any form of Needlework is perfect. I have designed bespoke kits and collections, always happy to take on new commissions. Online shops and selling from my studio shop in Peebles is vital. I have spent time teaching Needlework at local schools and realise how much kids need to craft. You should see the smiles when they realise that they can do it! I have a range of small kits specifically designed for children and beginners, the are already in velvet gift bags and colourful little boxes, perfect for kid's party gifts and stockings. All my designs are available as full kits in luxury bags or colourful boxes. People say I must be a patient person but actually I am very busy and get bored easily. My Needlework Collection is really a product of this, I was uninspired by available tapestry and embroidery and started to create by own. My range of tapestry kits, Animal Fayre Designer Tapestry Kits Collection was launched in 2001 at the British Craft Trade Fair and I have never looked back! I run the Animal Fayre Designer Tapestry Kits Collection, Scottish Contemporary Crewel Work Studio Animal Fayre Designs (my unique handbags) from my quirky shop, Gustaf's Studio and Gallery, Peebles, a busy market town in the Scottish Borders.Read their story
