About Holy Socks

Holy Socks are, first of all, a modern symbol of the ancient idea of life as pilgrimage. Devised partly as a non-threatening and gentle introduction to the Christian Faith, the original designs illustrate characters, stories or themes from the Bible, in which there are more than 600 references relating to feet and walking. Holy Socks were first put on someone's feet in 2000, a fitting start to the 21st century. They suit people of Christian faith, but there are designs which can be given to and worn by those of other faiths, or of no faith at all. They can also enjoy the stories, poems or meditations which accompany the socks. These days a lot of humour is cruel, but Holy Socks have a gentle humour. The socks are original designs - as are the stories - and make people smile and often laugh. Since the first pair was put on someone's feet, Holy Socks have found their way to India, Brazil, New Zealand, Egypt, Nepal, Zimbabwe, South Africa, the USA and Bermuda! They have been worn for ordinations and baptisms. There being many ways to journey, Holy Socks have been worn by rally drivers, karters, cyclists and walkers. They have walked on Mount Carmel and The Great Wall of China. Based in Scotland - a land of pilgrimage from the early days of Christianity until now. All sizes, many designs and colours. Made in a mix of not less than 70%cotton, nylon and elastsane or elastane/lycra, these are a good quality sock. Designed in U.K. Some made in the U.K., some in Turkey.
