Owner and Artist Monica Martino chronicles the absurdity and weirdness of everyday life, as messy, awesome and perplexing as it is. Working primarily in watercolor and marker, Martino creates relatable, appealing and original art and prints her work on a variety of unique products including colorful pre-matted art prints, sturdy tote bags, greeting cards, supersoft tees, and glossy, vibrant mugs. Prior to becoming an artist, Martino was an Emmy Award-nominated television producer who filmed in over 40 countries and on every continent for the Discovery Channel, National Geographic, Travel Channel and more. After a serious boat accident in the Amazon jungle, she spent several years recovering from life-threatening injuries and subsequent surgeries. She started drawing as a form of therapy, focusing on plucky, unloved or endangered animals going about their business in a chaotic world. She soon fell in love with the process and switched careers, opening her shop Lemon Zesty in 2017. Martino's dryly humorous art is instantly recognizable for its combination of sarcasm and warmth, and she hopes that it encourages meaningful conversations about cultural trends and universal experiences.
